Carrie Peters, LAC:

My name is Carrie Peters.  I am a Licensed Associate Counselor, under the supervision of Peter Tumolo, LPC.  I believe that everybody deserves to be heard and feel safe! Often life experiences and challenges can illuminate patterns, beliefs, and emotions that are waiting to be heard and transformed. I use a collaborative approach with individuals 18+ to create a nonjudgmental, safe place to foster healing.

I have experience helping individuals work through anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, life changes, and personal growth.  I have extensive training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR, Dialectical behavioral therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Yoga therapy.  I strongly believe that given the proper treatment modality, clients can heal deep wounds from the “bottom-up” and bring about a new sense of peace and regulation, rather than simply just coping with symptoms.  I am excited to join Growth Counseling to continue to serve my clients.  I am available evening and weekend hours.

My name is Peter Tumolo, I am the owner of Growth Counseling and a licensed professional counselor serving clients in and around Chandler, Arizona, and online.

It is my mission to help you heal from your trauma so that you can experience the freedom and the fullness life has to offer. You don’t have to learn to cope with symptoms. You can heal from past wounds so symptoms are no longer an issue.

As your therapist, it is my priority to create a therapeutic atmosphere that promotes growth and positive change, for you.

Neuroscience tells us that it doesn’t have to take years in therapy to heal from our past wounds, and it is my goal to provide my clients relief and healing as quickly as possible.

I believe that people heal in healthy relationships. As a result, I make my therapeutic relationships a priority by:

  • Treating every person with compassion, empathy, respect, and understanding.
  • Being attuned, present, and showing unconditional positive regard.
  • Supporting healing by creating internal and external safety.
  • Providing a safe, transparent, and trusting environment.
  • Building stability by explaining each step of the therapeutic process.

Treatment Approach

I use a variety of approaches to address my client’s unique needs. Many successful treatment plans will utilize a foundation of cognitive/cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, and internal family systems therapy then quickly move toward a tailored treatment plan and approach that includes tools to help sustain the growth experienced in regular therapy.

Additionally, there is a growing body of research that supports the practice of self-compassion and mindfulness in psychotherapy. Neuroscience research reveals individuals who practice these techniques are happier, more resilient, and better equipped to heal painful memories from the past. It is my honor and mission to help my clients move past what’s blocking them from reaching their full potential individually and in their relationships.
