Jessica Shoff, LCSW
In-person therapy in Gilbert, Arizona; virtual therapy anywhere in Arizona.
Clients often refer to me as humorous, upbeat, nerdy, genuine and expressive. I like to focus therapy on treating the symptoms rather than just considering a label or diagnosis.
I love the outdoors including hiking, camping, and scuba diving.
I enjoy music, movies, books, video games and pop culture.
Find me running a Dungeons and Dragons campaign with friends.
I have been called a “straight shooter” and take that seriously.
Watching and aiding in the growth and healing of my clients fills my cup. I enjoy learning about clients and helping them connect the dots. I have always had a fascination for how our brain, emotions and nervous system works. I was first driven to social work due to my personal philosophy of 'being the change you want to see in the world' and found success as a therapist, especially with teens and young adults.
My main modalities include:
Internal Family Systems (IFS), parts work, to better understand identity and sense of self
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), to attend to managing current emotional struggles
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), to help heal past traumas and events that are holding the client back from shining and embracing their idea of their best self.
I like to provide psychoeducation on neurological and biological impacts on mental health as well as help explore motives and past events leading to the the maladaptive coping or self-soothing.
My approach is client focus- meaning my clients (teens and adults) drive what they want out of therapy. I like to focus therapy on treating the symptoms rather than just considering a label or diagnosis.
